Hi, when I upload my video no preview video is generated. A radio-button exists in collection browser screen, but shows “x pixel” size like this
,
but there’s no video preview at all when viewing asset details .
How can I tune video preview creation ? Also I’d like using watermark with video preview. Where should I add this?
One more problem is RAZUNA tries to play original file, which may be too heavy to be played via http even in intranet. Is it possible to play preview in browser by default?
Hi, We don’t create previews of videos anymore just a preview image for the video. The preview is a non-functional leftover from the past and will be removed in future releases. We also do not watermark videos just images. If you want to upload a watermarked image for the preview image you can do that manually be uploading a image of your choice for the preview.

Hi,
These are bad news for me, really no good… May I ask WHY??? Why are
you removing preview functionality, functionality of great need? If
someone don’t need it it might be switchable, but not removed. Let me
explain how much it’s necessary. Maybe this will change your mind.
I’m going to use razuna in video production environment. I need to hold
lots of HD or even 4K video files of huge size. These videos cannot be
played in browser even within lan, but production guys should be able
to watch them and order for production. That’s why low-res full-length
preview (better with watermark and timecode burn-in) should be kept for
these purposes. No video production person will ever choose footage by
only one poster image. Lack of video preview functionality makes whole
system unusable for video purposes. Also I’d like to add ordering system
within users when restricted user can order his basket and
orders-keeper has ability of making aliases of ordered files into “My
folder” of order author.
I think you misunderstand. You can create any kind of preview for any video with the rendition function. Go to any detail page of a video and click on the rendition tab. There you see that you can create different renditions for your videos.
This can be automated with “Upload Templates” or even with the workflow plugin. This gives our customers the ultimate freedom to convert any file to any format they want.
The ordering system is something that is also build in. Once you share a folder, any user can order files with you.
Hope this helps.
What Nitai described is exactly what we do in our shop. I created a “proxy” rendition template that creates a 640x360 MP4 of the asset so it can be previewed over our 1Gbps intranet. It works beautifully for us:
Nitai, would it be possible to add a feature in future releases to customize the renditions a little more? For example, it would be really nice to be able to set the bitrate for the MP4 rather than rely on the default setting.
Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
Yes, for Razuna 2.0 we are definitely looking into expanding the capabilities for renditions, especially for videos.
It would be great to be able creating custom rendition by editing whole shell script with all ffmpeg parameters. This will solve watermarking, timecode burn-in and nearly any other rendition needs.
Also I’d like to suggest adding “default rendition template” which would be assigned to group of users, won’t be visible in “choose rendition” field, but will be executed at each upload.
One more idea: batch rendition processing. You select croup of clips and apply rendition to them.
As for me, I’d like get rid of quicktime and flash usage. As all modern browsers support html5 audio and video tags, default rendition with two video formats (mp4 and webm) will provide support for any browser. Also I think preview player should be located in asset detail window instead of current poster image and preview should be played in place (if browser supports this).
Html5 sound player like in soundcloud or freesound.org in asset detail window would be useful. Again playing preview file in place.
I love the idea of a batch process for renditions!
Is there anyway to upload only proxie files instead of recreating the full video on a different part of the volume or have i messed up somthing here i though it could just link not recreate, any thoughts? Sorry if this is in the wrong location. Thanks
All good ideas and some of them will surely make it into Razuna 2.0 or later. Thank you.
You can’t just upload proxie files. However, what you can do is to “link to folders”. Go to create a new folder and select the “link to” tab. Then enter the absolute path to your folders and you will see them appear in Razuna. With this feature, Razuna will simply link to your file location and create “proxy” files.
