We’re testing a new self-hosted installion on AWS and it’s working well except for one odd problem. MP4 video file previews and additional renditions are created for virtually any file type EXCEPT (oddly enough) original mp4 files. I don’t think this is by design (or maybe it is?). But the original mp4 files are hi-rez, high data rate files so they’re not suitable for streaming playback or preview.
We’re also testing ResourceSpace at the moment and in that system you can turn off preview creation for mp4 and let the original be your preview…but, it can be turned on for large mp4s not suitable for online playback.
So I’m wondering if this is by design in Razuna or if there’s an issue somewhere. Even if I try to create an mp4 rendition (after upload) of an mp4 original, no file is created. If I try to create an WMV or MOV file (etc) of the original mp4, it works fine. I’ve tested mp4 creation of original mp4s on the command line and it works fine calling ffmpeg from there (am able to create mp4s from mp4 originals).
I hope this makes sense, but would be nice to figure out since we have a lot of mp4 high-rez originals that need preview capability upon upload.
