Convert-on-download and different asset stores

Hi there,

I’m getting fancy with Razuna but there are two features that I can’t find within Razuna and that would be very important for us. Maybe I overlooked something or this features will be available with Razuna 2.0 and it would be a good advice to wait for version 2?

We have more than one million of assets in our recent DAM, being about 21TB big.
This results in following two must-haves for me:

  • Having multiple download formats available and execute the imagemagick convert commands on download (so generate the renditions only temporary). Because there’s 21TB of asset data (and growing) it wouldn’t be possible to permanently store all needed renditions for all the million assets

  • Distributing the assets to different file shares. Because the backup solution of our IT wasn’t able to backup the 21TB within one day, the assets are stored on different partitions. For example there’s partition holding 10TB of assets uploaded in the years 2010-2014. The content will never change again. So this 10TB were backed up once and will never be backed up again.
I saw that Razuna is creating numbered folders within the assets folder. I presume such a folder holds a maximum number of assets and after that a new folder will be created. I also presume that the content of folder 1 will never be changed again, if a folder 2 exists and I’m not modifying the assets stored in folder 1?
Would it be - for example - possible, to move the folders 1,2 and 3 to some network share and hard link this three folders to the asset folder?

Kind regards
Mirco

Hello,

  1. By default, Razuna lets you create renditions beforehand. This is so the
delivery is instantaneous. However, you can leverage the API to create
    renditions on the fly.

  2. Your assumption about the storage paths is wrong. However, you surely
can move the storage to another volume and point Razuna to it.

If you are serious about deployment, I recommend that you look into our
support plans at http://razuna.org/support/subscriptions and/or contact us
at sales@razuna.com.
