I saw on the website that Razuna 1.9.6 is available. I am running 1.9.5. Are there any significant updates that would warrant an upgrade at this time?

It’s a bug-fix release. Mainly important for first time users. Fixes issues with setting up a new host and some other small fixes.
That said, we continued to enhance Razuna in the year since releasing 1.9.5 and added a lot of new features. However, this new release is only available to customers with a support subscription or when you use our dedicated servers or the hosted edition.

I took a look at the Roadmap and it looks like quite a few enhancements are planned for upcoming versions.
So, will new releases only be available to support subscribers going forward?

Yes, there are many. For what it’s worth the ones listed on “Next release” are already done!
Regarding your question, there will always be a open source version. We are still figuring out how we are going to do this. However, some features and functionality will only be available to paying customers, i.e., the ones who pay for a support subscription.
